If the CODESYS WebVisu is implemented in the CODESYS Control runtime environment of an automation device, the device can display graphical user interfaces on connected HTML5-capable web browsers.
Two licensing models are offered:
- CODESYS WebVisu: Volume licensing for all controllers of a device family by the controller manufacturer, for general availability of visualization in web browsers.
- CODESYS WebVisu SL: Subsequent activation of a single license by the end user, for a device with complete visualization preparation by the device manufacturer. (Data interface (e.g. Ethernet) for connecting an external browser unit)
Integrated into the CODESYS Development System, the development of an IEC 61131-3 logic application as well as a classic or object-oriented visualization development are possible with one and the same development environment.
With CODESYS WebVisu, the control unit has an integrated web server that provides image and variable data in a data network. This data can be displayed on any HTML5-capable display device using a standard web browser.
Project planning with the editor integrated in the CODESYS Development System: The web server supports all visual elements of the CODESYS Development System on a controller with a CODESYS Control Runtime.
Can be combined with the product CODESYS TargetVisu to display generated masks.
Visualization management via:
- Specification of the display on the target device (update rate, pixel width, pixel height)
- Consistent change of all masks via CODESYS visualization styles
- Action management by assigning hot keys or mouse events
- Defining user groups for the graphical interface

| restrictions | Support for the available functions depends on the operating system selected. To display any number of visualization elements, sufficient memory and processor power on the device are mandatory. The devices must have the appropriate hardware support (display, touchscreen or input components). |
| Licensing |  Single device license: The license can be used on the controller on which the CODESYS runtime system is installed.
The license is activated on a software-based license container (soft container) that is permanently linked to the controller. Alternatively, the license can be stored on a CODESYS key (USB dongle). The license can be used on another controller by replugging the CODESYS key. |
