CODESYS SoftMotion Axes expands the functionality of CODESYS Control SL systems from pure logic to motion control with optional support for CNC and robotics.
This is an application-based license; it requires at least the application-based license CODESYS Control Standard S for the control.
With this license, up to 4 real axes and an additional 4 virtual axes can be operated.
The CODESYS SoftMotion Package can be downloaded using the CODESYS Installer. The release notes are published on the CODESYS website.

Description

CODESYS SoftMotion Axes enables the control of individual axes and synchronized master/slave movements such as cams.

CNC and robotics functionality can optionally be supplemented with the “SoftMotion Axis Groups/CNC Interpolators” license.

  • Configuring the movement sequence using blocks from function libraries
  • Configuration of the controlled drives based on the fieldbus support integrated in the CODESYS Development System
  • Decoupling the application creation from the hardware used through symbolic access via the name of the drive in the device tree. This allows the drive used to be changed without changing the application.

Typical applications

  • As an additional option for powerful CODESYS-compatible control systems with hard real-time behavior (FPU recommended)
  • Control of single or multi-axis traversing movements, e.g. B. with position and speed specifications, gear functions and phase controls
  • Realization of cam disks and virtual vertical shafts

SoftMotion Light supports CiA 402-compatible drives with CANopen or EtherCAT. The compatibility of the drive can be checked using the test project “SML_CompatibilityCheck_DS402.project”.

Licensing

Single device license: The license can be used on the controller on which the CODESYS runtime system is installed.

The license activation takes place on a software-based license container (soft container) that is firmly tied to the controller. Alternatively, the license can be stored on a CODESYS key (USB dongle). By changing the CODESYS key, the license can be used on another controller.
