CODESYS HMI SL is a software package that is installed on a remote computer to equip it with a graphical user interface (HMI). The newly created HMI support makes it possible to combine and visualize data from one or more CODESYS V2 and CODESYS V3 controllers (data sources) on a remote HMI device. Since CODESYS V3.5 SP17, controllers can also be visualized with an OPC UA server. A new data source with OPC UA client functionality is provided. The HMI SL can also be operated in conjunction with redundancy. An additional redundancy license is required for this.

The overlay function for TargetVisu has been available since CODESYS HMI V3.5.17.0. The overlay function requires a Windows 10/64-bit system. The versions maintained by Microsoft are supported. Note: Use the Device Reader project to determine the functions supported by the controller. Device Reader is available free of charge from the CODESYS Store. |
| Additional requirements | See license agreement. After installation, the user is responsible for ensuring that the combination of software package and hardware is used and functions according to his device specifications.

| Licensing |  Single device license: The license can be used on the controller on which the CODESYS runtime system is installed.
The license is activated on a software-based license container (soft container) that is permanently linked to the controller. Alternatively, the license can be stored on a CODESYS key (USB dongle). The license can be used on another controller by replugging the CODESYS key. Note: Without a license, the software runs in demo mode for two hours. After that, a manual restart is required. |
